Eligible beneficiaries in the State will receive houses in phases, including vulnerable groups like the separated and differently-abled.

However, pucca houses will also be distributed in September under the Antyodaya Yojana in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday celebrations. The beneficiaries identified under this scheme will receive houses as part of the larger PMAY initiative.

Minister Naik clarified that while the process will officially begin in November, houses will continue to be allotted in successive phases to ensure wide and inclusive coverage.

This move is part of the Odisha government’s broader commitment to providing dignified housing to all eligible rural families and improving their living conditions through Central and State collaboration.

“PM awas yojana (PMAY-G) is an ambitious scheme of the Central government, which stresses that every poor household must have a roof. We have made arrangements to distribute houses to separated and differently-abled persons,” the Minister stated.

Worth mentioning, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi had launched the Odisha Antyodaya Gruha Yojana 2025 (a housing scheme) in Kalahandi district on March 30.

This initiative aims to benefit 50,000 individuals, including those who are differently-abled, widows, and people suffering from various ailments. In addition to these groups, families of martyrs and recipients of the Padma Shri award will also benefit from this scheme.

Besides, an Awas survey operation to identify the eligible beneficiaries was carried out till March 31. Nearly 19 lakh people have already registered their names to participate in this survey, and further registrations are anticipated, official sources said.
