Phiringa PS vandalism: Kui Samaj opposes ‘police excess and arrest of innocent people’

At a presser, Abani Kumar Kanhar, the Secretary of Kui Samaj Seva Samiti, said that their demands include action against government officers who are abusing their official power, action against police personnel who brutally thrashed several people and release of innocent people who have been arrested.

The Kui Samaj has opposed the alleged police excess in the aftermath of the vandalism at Phiringia police station which was also set on fire recently. The members of the Samaj alleged that several innocent people are being arrested and it is totally not justified.

With a four-point charter of demands, the Kui Samaj will soon submit a memorandum to the district Collector.

At a presser, Abani Kumar Kanhar, the Secretary of Kui Samaj Seva Samiti, said that their demands include action against government officers who are abusing their official power, action against police personnel who brutally thrashed several people and release of innocent people who have been arrested.

“We have received complaints that during raids on Ganja, several articles like gold, silver and other personal property are being seized without following requisite guidelines. We will submit a memorandum over our demands,” said Kanhar.

Kanhar further said that those who are guilty should be arrested if there are adequate evidence against them.

“Those guilty, be it police or common people, should be booked and action be taken as per law. We also demand allowing of Ganja cultivation for medical purpose and a memorandum will be submitted to the President of India through the Odisha Governor,” Kanhar added.

Meanwhile, police officials could not be contacted over the matter.
