Tension prevailed at the District Headquarters Hospital in Kalahandi late Saturday night following the death of a 25-year-old woman, with her family alleging medical negligence.

The deceased has been identified as Daimati Bhoi of Makarsola village under Junagarh block. She had been suffering from fever for several days and was admitted to the hospital around 7 pm after her condition worsened. However, she passed away while undergoing treatment.

Her family members accused the hospital staff of negligence, leading to unrest on the hospital premises. The situation prompted the Town police to rush to the spot and pacify the agitated relatives.

As of now, no official statement has been issued by the hospital authorities regarding the incident.

Father’s Account of Events

Speaking about the incident, the deceased’s father, Balaram Bhoi, said, “She had been suffering from fever for nearly four days. We even administered IV drips at home, but her condition worsened. We rushed her to the hospital, where she was admitted and given another IV drip. However, her condition deteriorated further. When we alerted the doctor, another IV drip was administered, but soon after, she began bleeding from her nose.”

He further added, “When she started bleeding, they kept sending us from one place to another. In the meantime, my daughter passed away. I want the doctors suspended.”

Eyewitness Raises Concern

An eyewitness, Jasketan Bagh, who was present at the hospital, alleged, “The patient was left unattended for nearly two hours. When we inquired, we learned that only two doctors were available for 100 beds. She died within 30 minutes due to the lack of medical attention.”
