Pahalgam terrorist attack: Body of Odia youth killed to reach Odisha today

The mortal remains of Prashant Satpathy, the Odia youth who tragically lost his life in a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir on Tuesday, will be brought back to Odisha today.  Arrangements for the repatriation of his body are being coordinated by the administration, with assistance from the Odisha government and officials stationed in New Delhi.

As per official sources, Prashant’s body is scheduled to arrive in Delhi from Srinagar at 2:35 PM this afternoon. From there, it will be flown to Bhubaneswar on a late evening flight, arriving at approximately 9:45 PM. This information was confirmed by the Office of the Resident Commissioner of Odisha in New Delhi, who is overseeing the entire process in close coordination with local authorities.

Prashant Satpathy was killed in a sudden and brutal terrorist attack that took place yesterday in the picturesque region of Pahalgam. The assailants opened fire while Prashant was traveling with his wife Priyadarshini Satpathy, and  young son, aged nine during the unsettling incident. The horrifying incident occurred in broad daylight, and he was shot dead in front of his family, leaving them in shock and deep trauma. While his wife and child narrowly escaped unharmed, they witnessed the tragedy unfold before their eyes.

Prashant is a resident of Ishani village under Remuna block in Balasore district. He along with his family members had been to Pahalgam on April 20 to enjoy their holiday.

The incident has sent waves of grief across Odisha, especially in Prashant’s hometown, where residents are preparing to receive his body with full honours. Local officials are making arrangements for the final rites, and Odisha government representatives are expected to attend.

We have come here to express our solidarity with the bereved family,” said a relative

“We condemn such a terror attack. The Government of India should give a strong reply to the terrorists,”said brother of the deceased.

“Our nephew is on the spot and efforts are being undertaken to send the mortal remains to Delhi. Later, the bodies will be sent to respective states today. As the backbone of the family has gone, the wife is in a state of shock.

Elder brother said, “It is a moment of grief for our family. We are planning to conduct the last rites tomorrow.”
