The mortal remains of Prashant Satpathy, the Odia tourist who lost his life in the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, have reached his native village Ishani under Remuna block in Balasore district on Thursday morning.

Earlier on late Wednesday night, Prashant's body was carried from Jammu and Kashmir to Odisha. Prashant's mortal remains reached Bhubaneswar airport at around 12.30 am. Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari paid tributes with State BJP President Manmohan Samal, PCC president Bhakta Charan Das, Police DG YB Khurania, and other senior police officials also paying floral tributes to Prashant.

Prashant's family members were also present at the airport along with hundreds of people. Apart from his wife Priyadarshani and son Tanuj, his younger brother Jayant and two other relatives -- Manoranjan Mohanty and Ratnashri Mohanty -- accompanied the body in the special flight that reached here from Srinagar via New Delhi. The people present at the airport raised slogans like ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’, ‘Prashant Satpathy Amar Rahe.”

Later, Prashant's body was taken to his native village in a procession with hundreds of people taking part in it. The district administration has reportedly made all the arrangements for the last rites of Prashant. As per sources, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi will join the last rites of Prashant to be performed at his native village.

A pall of gloom has descended in the village after Prashant's body reached there.

Notably, Prashant, an employee of the central undertaking CIPET (Central Institute of Petrochemicals Engineering & Technology), Balasore, was among the 26 civilians killed in the terror attack near Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on Tuesday afternoon. Prashant was enjoying his holiday with his family when the incident took place. His wife, Priyadarshini Satpathy, and their young son, aged nine, were present during the unsettling incident.
