A whopping 53,000 posts of teachers will be filled up in Odisha government schools, said School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash in the Assembly on Wednesday.
Dash said the process for the appointment of 2026 teachers and 2064 clerks in various schools across the State has already been started.
Dash also informed the House that a budget of Rs 280 crore has been allocated by the Panchayatraj Department to construct additional classrooms for High Schools in the State. Moreover, a budget of Rs 805.14 crore has been allocated under Mo School Abhiyan. Similarly, the School and Mass Education Department has a budgetary allocation of Rs 578 crore for different purposes.
Responding to the concerns of some Opposition and ruling party MLAs regarding the scarcity of teachers and non-payment at the 5T schools, Dash said, “The matter related to non-payment in 5T schools will be discussed with the concerned Collectors.”
As per Dash, while 1075 schools have been transformed in the first phase under the 5T initiative, 3461 schools have been transformed in the second phase. Similarly, 2336 schools have been transformed in the third phase.
Informing the House about the appointment of teachers at the 5T schools, Dash said, “Appointment of 11,000 teachers has been completed so far. An examination was conducted on March 10 for the appointment of around 7,000 teachers. Similarly, the process has already been started for the appointment of 6,000 more teachers.”
“From now on, there will be no dearth of teachers in the State,” the minister added.
