A major road accident occurred late Friday night on NH 60 near Junabalada under Basta police limits in Balasore district. A passenger bus, while on its way from Bhubaneswar to Kolkata, collided with a stationary truck, resulting in injuries to more than 30 passengers. The stationary truck was reportedly from Andhra Pradesh.

Front Portion Of Bus Completely Damaged

Preliminary investigation suggests the mishap occurred due to the carelessness of the bus driver. It is believed that the driver either lost control of the vehicle or dozed off while driving. The impact of the collision was severe, leading to complete damage to the front section of the bus.

Injured Shifted To Balasore CHC

The bus was carrying over 50 passengers at the time of the accident. More than 30 of them sustained injuries and were taken to Balasore CHC for medical treatment. The remaining passengers were escorted to the Basta police station for assistance and inquiry.

No Casualty Reported, Bus Driver Detained

Both the truck and the bus have been seized by the police. The bus driver has been detained for questioning. No fatalities have been reported in the incident, and an investigation is currently underway.
