In a massive move to address the shortage of teachers in various schools, the Odisha government is going to recruit teachers in large numbers.
As many as 28,439 teachers will be recruited in the state at the earliest, informed School and Mass and Education Minister Nityanand Gond in Odisha Assembly on Thursday.
The Minister further informed that the Odisha government will take steps to reopen over 5,000 schools that were closed during the previous BJD government’s tenure. The matter, however, is sub-judice.
During demand discussion, the School and Mass Education department’s demand for grant of over Rs 26,000 crore was passed in the Assembly. Apart from this, the Odisha government is going to set up Ekalabya Model Schools in each block. Similarly, the government will set up around 1600 hostels in tribal areas in the state. The government would spend around Rs 2 crore for establishing each hostel, the Minister added.
