With an aim to extend help to the needy, Odisha Television Network’s CSR initiative, OTV Cares on Wednesday started counselling of selected candidates for the tailoring course.
The counselling for tailoring followed the data entry operator course counselling which was held on Monday.
Managing Director of OTV Network, Jagi Mangat Panda met the trainees ahead of the counselling. The counselling was conducted by the OTN CSR team and two representatives from Centurion University.
The trainees were taught the basic difference between domestic and industrial tailoring. The course will last for 50 days following which the trainees will be prepared to appear for campus interviews as well.
A trainee from Jagatsinghpur, Vaishai Samal said, “I belong to a poor family and needed to earn to support my family. I got to know about OTV Cares on television. I decided to apply for it and get trained in tailoring.”
"The training session was good today. I learnt a lot from this and hope to get a good earning opportunity after finishing my training,” she added.
Another trainee, Sujata Patra from Dhenkanal said, “I applied at the last minute before the window for registration closed. When I got a call from OTV, I was so happy that I literally cried.”
The training is a part of the ongoing initiative by OTV Cares to facilitate skill development of underprivileged women. Under the programme, sewing and designing, beautician, home nursing, data entry, and other vocational training will be provided to the needy to make them self-reliant.
The applicants, mostly from a poor financial background and those, who lost their parent/s, have been given priority. OTV Cares will bear all expenses including admission, course fee, and hostel fee.
The only qualification required is matriculation and the candidate should be from a poor financial background. The minimum age limit is 18 years.
