Intensifying its probe into the alleged leak of the Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) question paper, the Crime Branch has detained a teacher from Ambadola in Rayagada district for questioning. Sources confirm that the teacher is associated with Dangarbori Primary School.

The Special OTET examination, scheduled to be held on July 20, was abruptly cancelled late at night, just hours before it was set to begin the next morning. The cancellation raised concerns among nearly 75,000 aspiring teachers who were set to appear for the exam.

The cancellation came after alleged images of what appeared to be Paper I and Paper II of the OTET began circulating on social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, and Instagram.

The Crime Branch is probing multiple angles in the case and is believed to be conducting searches and questioning suspects across various districts. The detained teacher is suspected to have links with the question paper leak, though no official confirmation has been made yet.

Earlier on July 26, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE), Odisha, transferred six officials following the abrupt cancellation of the exam.

While authorities have promised strict action against those involved and assured that efforts are on to prevent such incidents in the future, the rescheduled date for the examination is yet to be announced.
