Tension ran high at a cyber café in Bhubaneswar which was an examination centre for the recruitment of district cadre posts of Revenue Inspector (RIs), ICDS supervisors, ARI, Amin and SFS conducted by Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC).

Scores of aspirants created a ruckus over the delay in the conduct of the examination and other irregularities at the centre of the Nayapali area in Bhubaneswar. Sources a third-party vendor had selected the cyber café as an examination centre where the exam was scheduled to be conducted in three shifts today.

“Our reporting time was 1:30 pm and the exam was scheduled to start at 3:30 pm. However, the second shift exam aspirants were entering in our time slot. We were told that our exam will be delayed. If we have come to appear in the exam at 1 pm how can we wait for such long hours," questioned an aspirant.

Another aspirant alleged that the centre lacked basic facilities like a frisking room and others. “I had come to appear in the examination. Our frisking was done at a kitchen and all the male and female candidates were frisked at the same place,” alleged an aspirant from Keonjhar.

Another aspirant said, “Several aspirants could not appear in the first shift due to software issues. The authorities here did not inform us. The second shift aspirants were asked to wait. There is a kitchen on one side and this is not how an exam centre should be. We want cancellation of the centre and the opportunity to reappear in the exam.”

Khorda Sub-Collector, who visited the spot, refuted allegations and said that the exam was going on smoothly.
