A day after scores of aspirants were left in the lurch over massive errors in question papers, the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) on Monday announced to cancel the examination conducted on Sunday.
In a fresh notice, the OSSC said, “Because of substantial errors in printing of Odia version of the questions in Preliminary examination for Accountant under the Housing and Urban Development department, the OSSC has decided to cancel the preliminary examination held on April 23, 2023 (both Odia and English version).”
OSSC further said that the Commission regrets the inconvenience caused to the applicants. “Fresh date for preliminary examination for Accountant will be announced shortly,” the notice added.
Earlier, scores of aspirants, who appeared for the accountant recruitment examination conducted by the Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC) on Sunday, alleged massive errors in the question papers.
The aspirants blamed the commission for not scrutinising the question papers before conducting the examination, leading such inconvenience. Several aspirants even took to social media platforms and OSSC to reconduct the examination owing to the faulty question papers.
Commenting on the errors in the question paper, an aspirant said, “The question paper was printed using Google translator. It was really difficult for us to interpret the question.”
Another aspirant said, “There are a lot of exams like CGL, Amin, and others and we want such errors not to crop up. We want a uniform pattern followed by OSSC.”
When approached, the OSSC Chairman did not respond and left in a car.
Educationist, Satyakam Mishra said, “If the proofreaders are not well versed with the language, such mistakes will happen. I feel that such errors occurred due to the wrong selection of the printing press. Such incidents can be avoided if the Chairman gets personally involved in all aspects."
