One dead, over 30 injured as bus overturns in Nayagarh

In a tragic incident, one person died and over 30 passengers sustained injuries as the passenger bus carrying them overturned mid-way at Surada square near Nuagaon area in Nayagarh district on Friday.  The condition of more than eight injured passengers is stated to be critical. The driver of the vehicle reportedly died on the spot.

Following the road mishap, local residents swung into action, rescued the injured passengers and rushed them to Daspalla Community Health Centre (CHC) and other hospitals. Later, they were shifted to Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital.

Local police and fire service personnel also reached the spot and carried out the rescue operation along with local people.

As per reports, the private bus was on its way from Raikia to Bhubaneswar when it overturned near Nuagaon after hitting the road divider. There were more than 40 passengers in the vehicle.

Road communication on both sides of the road has been affected due to the accident and crowding at the spot.
