A girl dies and at least 10 others sustained critical injuries in two separate electrocution incidents in Odisha on Monday. The incidents have been reported from Paradip and Balasore.
In Paradip, a girl died while four persons including her grandparents and a neighbour were critically injured due to electrocution at Balisahi under Kujang police limits.
The deceased has been identified as Ranu Behera.
According to sources, Ranu got an electric shock while she was trying to on a switch. Hearing her screams, Ranu’s grandparents, brother and a neighbour rushed to her rescue, but in vain
While Renu died on the spot, all of them sustained injuries due to electric shock, sources informed, adding that the injured were rushed to Kujang hospital. However, of the four injured, one was later shifted to Cuttack after his condition deteriorated.
In another incident, six labourers, engaged in house construction, sustained critical injuries due to electrocution during flooring work.
All the injured labourers have been admitted to Baliapal hospital, sources informed.
