In a stunning piece of craftwork, distinguished miniature artist L Eswar Rao , hailing from Jatni of Odisha’s Khordha, has created a miniature idol of Jesus Christ inside a glass bottle on the occasion of Christmas.
Forty-year-old Rao crafted a 4-inch high and 2-inch wide crucifix sculpture of Jesus Christ inside a 750ml bottle.
He placed the sculpture of the crucifix Jesus along with two Christmas trees inside the bottle. Rao also affixed the message ‘Merry Christmas’ in the bottle.
Eswar Rao used glass, chalk, and glitter paper to create the miniature sculpture and it took him seven days to complete it.
Rao has earned fame by creating miniature art on soap, pencil nib, etc., and he has been practicing the artwork for the last 25 years.
He began his journey in 1999 when he first created a mini-replica of Taj Mahal carved out from chalk which he then gifted to his teacher.
As informed by Rao, he has been practising miniature artwork since he was in Class 2. In class 12, he gifted the miniature art to his teacher. His teacher was very much impressed by his work and he later introduced him to the then-principal of B K College of Arts. Later, he took training in stone carving for four years.
In 2011, Rao set up 'Eswar Art and Craft Social Foundation' where he now trains students for free apart from carving such marvellous miniature sculptures.
