In a significant decision, the Odisha Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) on Monday announced several consumer-friendly measures aimed at providing financial relief to electricity consumers in the state.

As per the latest declaration, consumers using smart meters with a connected load of up to 2 kilowatts will now be exempt from paying the monthly meter rent. This move is expected to benefit a large number of domestic consumers, reducing their overall electricity expenses.

Additionally, to promote digital transactions, the 4% rebate on electricity bills paid through digital payment methods will continue. This initiative is aimed at encouraging cashless transactions and easing the payment process for consumers.

Furthermore, in a big relief to consumers, OERC has decided not to increase the electricity tariff for the upcoming financial year. It was clarified that since 2021-22, there has been no hike in power tariffs, ensuring continued affordability of electricity for households and businesses.

These measures are expected to bring financial ease to consumers while promoting efficient power usage and digital payment adoption across Odisha.

Key Highlights

OERC in a statement said that the retail supply tariff for Odisha remain unchanged for financial year 2025-26.

Any consumer, who will opt for E-Bill shall get a rebate of Rs 10 per bill.

Consumers with pre-paid meters shall get a 4 % rebate on pre-paid amount and the LT domestic and single phase general purpose consumers shall continue to get 4 % digital payment rebate.
