A young woman is in critical condition after consuming poison within the premises of Itamati Police Station in Nayagarh district on Monday. The incident occurred as part of her demand for swift justice over a relationship dispute.
According to reports, the woman had earlier filed a case related to a love affair in March. As per the allegations by the woman, she was in a love affair with a youth who is working as a CRPF Jawan. The woman alleged that the youth raped her by promising marriage.
Following the complaint, the accused was arrested and sent to jail. He was later released on bail. However, tensions flared again recently, and a dispute erupted between the two families over the same matter.

Both parties had approached the police station on Sunday regarding the renewed conflict. Following their complaints, two fresh cases were registered. Amidst the ongoing legal and emotional turmoil, Itamati Police called both families to the police station on Monday. Meanwhile, demanding immediate justice, the woman consumed poison in the police station premises, shocking everyone.
She was immediately rushed to Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment. A special medical team is providing her treatment. Her condition has improved a little bit. As per sources, she may be shifted to another hospital in Bhubaneswar, if her condition deteriorates.
Further investigation into the matter is underway. However, no reactions were received from Itamati Police.
