In a tragic incident, a woman reportedly died after hurriedly jumping off a train along with her two minor children at Badamal station under Saintala Police Limits of Bolangir district on Friday. However, her two children miraculously escaped unhurt.
According to police, the deceased has been identified as Jharana Mahanand, a resident of Jarasingha village under Deogaon police limits. The woman and her two kids – one aged 4 and the other 2 – had come to Bolangir for some work. They were waiting at Bolangir station to board a local train.
After waiting for hours, she and her children inadvertently boarded Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Visakhapatnam Special train. However, by the time she realised that she boarded the wrong train, it had already proceeded far. She was in a hurry for a chance to get down from the train somewhere.
As the train approached Badmal station, it slowed down. During this time, Jharana carrying her children hurriedly jumped off. She was critically injured in the process and she died minutes later. However, her children were safe, police said.
