After over 24 years, Odisha witnessed a change in government with BJP coming to power for the first time by dethroning BJD, led by former CM Naveen Patnaik in the 2024 general elections.
In an exclusive interview with OTV’s Associate Editor Bhawani Shankar Mohapatra in the first episode of a new Podcast series, the Barabati-Cuttack MLA Sofia Firdous spoke her heart out on several issues ranging from politics to personal life. The podcast will be aired on OTV Digital on Saturday.
When asked, 'it took 24 years for the government in Odisha to change and how long it will take for the Congress to form government in the state', the Congress MLA said that the party is trying its best to come to power in the state.
"This (BJP) government will not last long. It has now been three months since the BJP has been in power in Odisha. The fear that should be in the minds of officers when there is a change of government, is not visible,” said Firdous.
According to the Congress MLA, there is a good scope for the Congress to gain from here. “We are trying our best to ensure that Congress comes to power in Odisha in 2029,” she added.
Though the Congress MLA seemed quite confident about the party’s prospects, many are wondering what could be the basis of such statements of the newly-elected MLA from Barabati-Cuttack constituency.
Is Sofia Firdous indicating some new strategy by the Odisha Congress? Is senior leader and Sofia’s father Mohammad Moquim behind it? What prompted the Barabati-Cuttack MLA to exert such confidence behind the rise of Congress in Odisha in the next 5 years?
Well, you can get all the answers after watching the full episode of the OTV’s Podcast tomorrow.
