The last rites of Ishwar Chandra Dora, a jawan of the Border Security Force (BSF), who was recently found dead in mysterious circumstances in Tripura bordering Bangladesh, were performed at his native village Belakhandi under Kasinga block in Kalahandi district on Sunday with full state honours.
As per reports, after his body was brought to his native village on Sunday, people and leaders from various places rushed to his house to pay their last respects.
The departed jawan was accorded a Guard of Honour amid a huge crowd giving a teary and emotional farewell to the jawan. The father of the deceased ignited the funeral fire.
A woman of the village observed that they all were deeply pained for losing a jawan of the country and a son of the soil which is proud of him.
A local leader said, “The sacrifice of a brave jawan like Ishwar Chandra Dora from Belakhandi has given an identity to the village. This is proof that our village can produce jawans like him who can render their lives for the country. We are proud of the departed jawan.”

Reports said, Ishwar Chandra was posted at the BSF outpost in Lankamura on the borders of Bangladesh. A couple of days ago, he had left for his duty, but surprisingly he was found dead near the iron bridge across a creek at Lankamura the next morning.
Though the exact reason behind death has not been ascertained yet, preliminary investigation pointed out that he might have died after accidentally falling from a creek.
