Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday launched simultaneous raids at eight different locations linked to Ramachandra Satpathy, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Athmallik Block in Angul district, over allegations of possessing disproportionate assets (DA) to his known sources of income.

The raids are being carried out by teams led by seven DSPs, 15 Inspectors, and several other supporting staff, acting on search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.

During the raid, the officials of the anti-corruption agency is said to have laid their hands on many important documents including bank passbooks.

Raids are underway at below places:

  • Satpathy's residential house at Ward No.15, Plot No.12, Gayatri Nagar, Dhenkanal.
  • His government quarter at Athmallik Town, Angul.
  • His office at the Panchayat Samiti Office, Athmallik.
  • His paternal house in Banasingh, PS-Sadar, Dhenkanal.
  • His in-laws' residences in Junagarh and Bhawanipatna (Kalahandi), and Karamula village (Dhenkanal).
  • A structure built on a plot in Bachhipur, Trisulia, Barang, Cuttack.

Properties Recovered So Far

  • Residential double-storeyed building with an area of approx. 5000 Sqft located at Ward No.15, Plot no.12, Gayatri Nagar, Dhenkanal.   
  • 17 high-value plots, including 1 in Barang, Cuttack and the remaining 16 plots in and around Dhenkanal town.
  • Gold ornaments 326 gms
  • Cash Rs 23.95 Lakhs recovered during house search of son-in-law of Sri Satpathy, Dr. Tapan Kumar Tripathy, Medical Officer, CHC, Junagarh. Both are being interrogated to ascertain the source of funds. The amount has been seized.  
  • Bank deposits over Rs.63.69 lakhs. Other deposits are being ascertained.
  • 2 four wheelers (Honda Jazz in name of Rama Chandra Satpathy & Hyundai i20 in name of his son-in-law) and 2 two wheelers. 

The search operations are currently underway.
