Odisha Vigilance raids DFO Nityananda Nayak’s properties over DA case

In a major operation, Odisha Vigilance officials on Sunday launched simultaneous raids at seven locations linked to Nityananda Nayak, OFS-1, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Kendu Leaf Division, Keonjhar, over allegations of possessing disproportionate assets (DA). The raids are being carried out in Angul, Keonjhar, and Nayagarh districts to uncover potential evidence of assets beyond Nayak’s known sources of income.

Massive Vigilance Team Deployed

The search operation involves 3 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSsP), 10 Inspectors, and other supporting staff, acting on search warrants issued by the Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Keonjhar. The team began inspections early this morning and is thoroughly scanning residential, office, and other premises associated with the DFO.

During the ongoing operation, Odisha Vigilance unearthed 115 plots, 53 in Nityananda Nayak’s name, 42 in his wife’s, 16 in his sons’, and 4 in his daughter’s name. A four-storey house spanning 9,000 square feet in Turanga, Angul, was also found, along with Rs 1.19 lakh in cash. Searches are continuing across seven locations in Angul, Keonjhar, and Nayagarh districts.

Properties in Angul, Nayagarh, and Keonjhar are under scrutiny as officials examine documents, assets, and valuables to determine the extent of alleged irregularities. Sources indicate that movable and immovable assets are being assessed in line with vigilance protocols.

As of the latest update, searches are ongoing and details of any seizures or findings are yet to be officially released. Odisha Vigilance has not commented on the duration of the operation or potential next steps in the investigation.
