Even as a massive rescue operation is currently underway in the coaches of the two express trains involved in the devastating accident at the Bahanaga station in Odisha's Balasore district, several bodies are yet to be recovered.
The bogies are being cut down to rescue passengers who are feared trapped under. The rescue operation is likely to take another few hours.
Meanwhile, two brothers have been searching for their brother’s body, who is suspected to be killed in the tragic train mishap, which claimed the lives of at least 238 people so far.
As per the two brothers, their younger brother was staying in Chennai and had come home after 14 long years to attend his mother’s last rites.
After completing all the rituals, he was returning back to Chennai when the tragic mishap occurred. His two brothers are now running from one damaged bogie to another, but they are yet to trace his body.
From the crematorium to the local hospital where the bodies have been kept, they have searched everywhere to find their brother’s body, but in vain.
When they called his number, an unknown person answered the ‘deceased’ youth’s mobile and claimed that their brother was dead in the mishap and they had found the mobile phone from the pocket of his trousers.
“My brother’s name is Ramesh Jena. He had boarded the train from Balasore station at around 6:30 pm for Chennai. He had assured me that he would call back once he reached Bhadrak station. However, tragedy struck then, and soon after getting the mishap news, we rushed to the spot and tried to search for him, but in vain. When we called him, an unknown person answered the call and said that my brother was dead and he had found the mobile in my brother’s pocket. Since then, we are trying to trace his body,” said the deceased youth's brother.
“He was settled in Chennai and had come home for mother’s final rites after a gap of 14 years. He was returning to Chennai to work when the tragedy occurred. We are running from one hospital to another and even searched the damaged bogies, but are unable to trace his body,” said another brother.
