Intensifying its probe into the tragic triple-train mishap at Bahanaga that claimed 288 lives, the CBI reportedly picked up three Indian Railways employees on Monday.
As per reports, the central agency has picked up a station master, a technician and another employee of the Indian Railways. The trio was reportedly taken to an undisclosed location where their interrogation is underway, the reports added.
However, owing to the sensitivity of the probe in the case, the CBI has remained tight-lipped regarding the interrogation and the detention of the three employees.
After taking over the probe into the case, the CBI officials are digging deeper to find out the circumstances that led to the tragic mishap. Several questions like possible conspiracy and technical glitch are still remained unanswered.
Earlier, the CBI had seized the mobile phones of some railway staff to examine their call records, WhatsApp messages and social media usage on the fateful day. Moreover, the CBI also questioned the loco pilots as part of the investigation.
Assisted by forensic and technical teams, the CBI had also earlier visited the accident site and conducted a thorough probe.
Worth mentioning, 288 people were killed in the triple train accident involving Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast Express and Shalimar-Chennai Central Coromandel Express, which were carrying over 2,500 passengers, and a goods train laden with iron ore on Friday evening at Bahanaga Bazar station in Balasore.
