In a miraculous escape, a 35-year-old man has survived the deadliest triple train crash at Bahanaga Bazar station in Balasore district that claimed 275 lives.
Dulai Mazumdar, a resident of Assam, has been rescued alive 48 hours after the accident.
According to sources, Mazumdar was onboard the Coromandel Express when the train met with an accident on Friday.
Mazumdar was thrown out of the train and landed around 200 metres away from the tracks following the collision. The Soro police rescued him in critical condition, 48 hours after the incident, sources informed.
At first, Mazumdar was rushed to Soro hospital and later shifted to Balasore hospital after his condition deteriorated.
Notably, at least 275 people were killed in the triple train accident involving Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express, Bengaluru-Howrah super fast and a goods train in Balasore.
According to Odisha Health Department officials, as many as 260 people, who sustained injuries in the triple train accident, are undergoing treatment in various hospitals across the State, while around 900 have been discharged so far.
