Even as the train traffic resumed on the tracks at Bahanaga Bazaar station in Balasore district where a train mishap involving three trains occurred claiming 275 lives, the plight and sufferings of the people who have lost their near and dear ones are yet to end.
They are doing rounds of hospitals in Bhubaneswar hunting for the bodies of their relatives.
Four persons including two sisters who have come all way from Nepal are in the same predicament, not able to know where to go and whom to contact to know about whereabouts of their relative.
They reached Bhubaneswar on Monday and so far visited three hospitals looking for their relative but their search is yet to end.
According to them, their two relatives were travelling on Coromandel Express on that fateful evening. While they identified the body as that of one of their relatives, they were doing rounds of hospitals-first went to KIMS Hospital, then to Capital Hospital and finally to AIIMS-searching for another one. They spent the night on the AIIMS premises and resumed their hunt for their relative this morning.
“My brother and nephew (sister’s son) had come from Nepal. On Friday, they had boarded the train that met with an accident at around 7 pm. While we have identified one body, our search for another one still continues. We have shown everything including photographs to the officials but to no avail. They are only asking us to go to another hospital,” said one of the sisters with tears welling up in her eyes.
“On Friday evening, a local person who might be recovering bodies from the compartment called us from our relative’s mobile phone, informing us that your relatives have died in the train accident. We came to Balasore. Then we went around the hospitals in Balasore and Cuttack but didn’t find it. Then we were asked to go to Bhubaneswar. After reaching Bhubaneswar, we have visited all three hospitals. The bodies we have been shown are not matching with the photograph. Now you tell me what shall we do,” said a relative.
