Odisha is all set to witness a major evolution in both its rural and urban landscapes as Mohan Majhi-led BJP government outlines a visionary new budget. This initiative allocates a significant Rs 408 crore to establish a new metropolis in Bhubaneswar, drawing parallels to the vibrant city of Hyderabad.
The ambitious plan is to construct a new Bhubaneswar to foster economic growth and urban development, inspired by Hyderabad's success as a major IT hub. Further enhancing this vision, Odisha BJP under CM Mohan Majhi also plans to transform 15 cities into five tri-city clusters.
New Satellite City within Bhubaneswar
A strategic initiative is underway to develop a new satellite city within Bhubaneswar. Spanning 322 hectares, the project is expected to bolster the region's infrastructure across multiple sectors, with a particular focus on IT. Inspired by Hyderabad’s urban model, this development forms a part of the state government's comprehensive infrastructure enhancement plan.
This move is anticipated to attract significant investments and foster a plethora of employment opportunities. A generous allocation of Rs 408 crore has been set aside to support the establishment of this flourishing urban centre. This apart, the Odisha government is also prioritising the swift completion of the Metro. This metropolitan expansion will also include a new ring road, to streamline the traffic flow.
Transforming Urban Towns into Economic Hubs
Additionally, the Odisha government is set to invigorate urban development, with a budget allocation of Rs 1,100 crore. This initiative aims to transform several city regions into economic powerhouses. The plan includes the enhancement of five urban corridors: Bhubaneswar-Cuttack-Puri, Sambalpur-Jharsuguda-Baragarh, Jeypore-Sunabeda-Koraput, Chatrapur-Brahmapur-Gopalpur, and Keonjhar-Badbil-Joda. These regions are envisioned as future economic hubs, critical to boosting local economies and infrastructure.
Under the scheme, the government will focus on the development of creation centres and tourism circuits. There will also be significant advancements in logistics, higher education facilities, and medical services. Odisha's vision also includes multiple iconic infrastructure projects, intended to enhance connectivity and improve public services across the targeted regions.
