There seems to be no respite for the people of Odisha from the sizzling heat. Odisha is likely to experience severe heat wave condition for the next four days, predicted India Meteorological Department.
As per the prediction by the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, mercury level is likely to cross 45 degree Celsius in many parts of the State mainly in Northern and interior parts of Western Odisha during the period.
IMD has further predicted that temperature may rise by two degree Celsius in some parts of the State in the next 48 hours.
IMD has issued Red Warning for severe heatwave condition in these parts of the State. The situation is likely to continue till April 30. As there are fewer chances of any storm and rainfall activities in the State till May 9, the heatwave condition is likely to persist during the period.
Meanwhile, the scorching heatwave condition continues to torment the people of Odisha with Talcher recording the highest temperature of 36.8 degree Celsius in the State till 8.30 am on Saturday. It was followed by Baripada with maximum temperature of 36 degree Celsius during the period. While Keonjhar, Rourkela and Bolangir experienced maximum temperature of 34.8 degree Celsius each, Bhawanipatna, Balasore and Boudh witnessed maximum temperature of 34 degree Celsius each early in the morning.

Capital City Bhubaneswar has been recording maximum temperature of more than 40 degree Celsius for the last 12 days. Moreover, the situation in more than half of the districts in the State is more or less like the same.
