Odisha is planning to expand its collaboration with AMNEX Infotechnologies to deploy artificial intelligence (AI) and geospatial analysis for agriculture.

The mulled initiative is expected to provide farmers with real-time data on soil health, crop patterns, and water management, enabling informed decisions to minimise losses and maximise yields.

The information was shared by Odisha Deputy CM Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on his official X handle following his meeting during a presentation by AMNEX at the Lok Seva Bhawan Conference Hall in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday.

“Engaged in an insightful presentation by Amnex, exploring innovative solutions for Odisha’s agriculture sector. Odisha remains committed to embracing cutting-edge agricultural advancements that ensure sustainability, efficiency, and prosperity for our farming communities,” he wrote. 

The partnership builds on AMNEX’s existing work with the Department of Agriculture, including projects like AgriStack, Digital Crop Survey, and Farmer Registry.

According to reports, this initiative will see advanced technologies like IoT (Internet of Things) and AI integrated to analyse complex agricultural data and deliver actionable insights to farmers.

Focus on 33 Crops

AMNEX is expected to offer technical support for 33 key crops in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Agriculture. Solutions include predicting crop health, optimising irrigation, and advising on pest control, according to reports by The New Indian Express.

These tools aim to transform farmers into ‘agricultural entrepreneurs’ by bridging the gap between traditional practices and modern precision farming.

Odisha’s Digital Agriculture Push

The state’s efforts include mapping high-risk agricultural zones and improving resource allocation through data analytics. 

The new AI integration is likely to refine existing systems, offering hyper-local advisories tailored to regional crop conditions and climate trends, providing farmers with predictive analytics and real-time alerts.
