After turning into a depression, the low pressure area created over southeast and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal has intensified further.
The system is likely to move west-northeastwards and intensify into a deep depression on Saturday.
As per the prediction by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the cyclonic storm is likely to cross South Andhra Pradesh adjacent to Tamil Nadu coasts between Chennai and Machilipatnam around the evening of December 4. Then it is likely to move towards Odisha.
Under its effect, several places of Southern and costal Odisha districts are likely to experience heavy rainfall on December 3 and 4.
Yellow warning has been issued to five districts- Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam. Moreover, the amount of rainfall is likely to increase on December 5 and 6.
Considering heavy to very heavy rainfall, Orange warning has been issued to these districts.
Fishermen have also been advised not to venture into the sea from December 5 due to probable turbulent sea conditions. Whoever out at sea has been advised to return to coast immediately.
