Odisha’s renowned cardiologist Dr JP Das passes away at 90

Noted cardiologist Dr Jadunath Prasad Das, popularly known as Dr JP Das, is no more. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar this evening. He was 90. 

Dr Das was suffering from age-related issues. As the news of his demise broke, condolence messages started pouring in. Doctors and noted personalities from different sections of society mourned his death. 

Dr Das was born on August 5, 1933 in Khordha. He worked as the head of the department (HoD) of the cardiology department of SCB Medical College and Hospital. He also set up a Cardiology Research Centre in Cuttack, where he was treating patients. He was also known for his social activities.

After PG, he joined SCB Medical College and Hospital as a professor in 1962. He was the first cardiologist at SCB Medical College and Hospital.
