Amidst Opposition walk-out, the Odisha Legislative Assembly on Thursday evening approved the Appropriation Bill (two), allowing the state government to spend Rs 12,156 crore from its consolidated fund during the remaining period of financial year 2024-25.
Meanwhile, it also revealed that the average debt per person in the state is now Rs 20,177.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi presented the supplementary budget of Rs 12,156 crore in the Assembly on November 26, augmenting the annual outlay of Rs 2.65 lakh crore presented in July.
Investment Focus
The approved funds will significantly bolster key sectors, including health, welfare for women and children, housing and urban development, capital investment, education, and skill development. These sectors are seen as critical for the state’s socioeconomic progress.
Debt Burden per Individual
During the assembly session, it was revealed that each resident holds a debt of Rs 20,177. This reflects increased financial responsibility on individuals amid state efforts to drive development.
Constituency Allocations
Each legislative constituency is set to receive Rs 142 crore, empowering local legislators to initiate development projects tailored to regional needs. This allocation aims to spur growth at the grassroots level.
