The Dengue situation across Odisha is becoming worse with each passing day. The state has already touched the 2,000 cases mark.
This year, the state has reported 50 percent more Dengue cases than the previous year. While the state had reported 1,441 positive cases last year, this year the number has crossed the 2000 mark. This year, a total of 2,111 patients have tested positive for the disease by August 16.
According to the Health department sources, a maximum of 1,155 patients have tested positive for Dengue in Khordha district followed by Balasore (179), Puri (150), Cuttack (125), and Jagatsinghpur (101).
However, Odisha Health Services Director, Dr Bijay Mohapatra said the situation is not grim in all districts.
“This year, there are more Dengue patients compared to the number of patients reported in the corresponding period last year. We are receiving reports from all the districts. The situation is not grim in all the districts. Boudh, Balasore, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Puri districts have patients in three digits. And, a maximum of 1,155 patients have tested positive for Dengue in Khordha. This is because patients from other areas come here for treatment. The district has so far reported 2,111 positive cases,” informed Mohapatra.
