Berhampur witnessed high drama on Monday morning after two youths attempting to steal were caught and thrashed by locals. The incident took place in Kalu Patra Sahi under the Bada Bazar police station limits at around 9 am.
According to reports, while the duo tried to break into a house, the family members managed to catch them. The locals later brought the accused outside, tied them up, allegedly beat them, and subsequently handed them over to the police. However, no official reaction from the police has been received regarding the incident so far.
Theft Attempt Repeated After Previous Incident
The same individuals were allegedly involved in a theft attempt on Sunday night. On that occasion, when the robbers broke into a house, the family woke up, forcing them to flee. One of them was caught and reportedly handed over to the police.
Despite this, the duo attempted theft again on Monday morning. This time, the family members managed to catch them, following which the entire neighbourhood gathered at the spot. While two others involved in the act managed to escape, these two were nabbed by locals.
Police Begin Investigation
As per reports, police were called to the scene and took the accused into custody. They have launched an investigation into the matter and are questioning the two individuals. Efforts are also underway to ascertain whether the duo is connected to other crimes, while investigations are being conducted to trace the two who fled.
