Odisha continues to witness a slow but steady resurgence of COVID-19 cases. According to the latest bulletin released by the Directorate of Public Health, seven new COVID-19 positive cases have been identified in Odisha, taking the total cumulative count to 45 on Sunday.

33 Active Cases Under Observation

Out of the total 45 confirmed cases, 33 are currently active, and health officials are closely monitoring their condition. Patients are being treated in isolation wards across designated hospitals, and no reports of severe illness have been issued so far.

Recovery Rate Still Moderate: 12 Patients Recovered So Far

The state has recorded 12 recoveries to date. Public health authorities emphasized that while recovery numbers are growing, continued vigilance and timely medical intervention remain crucial.

Health Directorate Issues Caution

Dr. Nilakantha Mishra, the Director of Public Health, provided these updates and reiterated the need for public cooperation. He urged citizens to follow basic COVID-appropriate behavior such as mask usage, hand hygiene, and avoiding crowded spaces.

Earlier, the Centre had issued an advisory asking states to ensure the availability of oxygen supply, isolation beds, ventilators, and critical medicines to combat any potential escalation.

Hospitals across the country are undergoing readiness checks, including mock drills, to assess their preparedness in handling another possible COVID-19 wave. Emphasis has been placed on seamless oxygen delivery systems and emergency protocols.

As part of an integrated disease surveillance effort, states have been instructed to monitor Influenza-Like Illness (ILI) and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) cases more aggressively. Hospitals must test all admitted SARI cases and 5% of ILI cases for COVID-19 to identify hidden transmission patterns.
