Odisha’s political landscape heated up once again on Thursday after Opposition MLA Badri Patra openly challenged Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal's claims regarding the defection of BJD leaders to the saffron party.
Responding to Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal’s claim that many BJD leaders were waiting to join the saffron party, Patra questioned the BJP's ability to weaken the Naveen Patnaik-led conch party and dared the saffron party to disintegrate his party.
“BJD is a big regional party. Are they (BJP) capable to make BJD empty?” Patra questioned.
On the other hand, BJP MLA Sanatan Bijuli remained affirmative and said that BJD is going to be disintegrated soon.

“BJP is the only alternative in India. Everybody will be eager to join BJP. Many leaders will join our party. River will mix with the sea. We certainly have the capability. Let’s see what happens in coming days. There will be no need to break BJD, it will disintegrate automatically,” said Bijuli.
Earlier a day before, State BJP president Manmohan Samal had said, “Many BJD leaders are waiting to join the BJP. We have completed 100 days and it’s only a trailer. The movie is ahead. Whatever commitment we have made that has been reflected in the budget.”
