Intensifying its raids across the state on corrupt officials, the State Vigilance sleuths on Monday raided several places linked to Talcher Mines deputy director Dharanidhar Nayak.

Till the last report came in, the raids were underway at four different locations linked to Nayak at Keonjhar, Talcher and Telkoi over disproportionate assets allegations.

Elephant Attack in Patnagarh

A couple was killed in an elephant attack at Chabripali village under Khaprakhol block in Patnagarh on Monday.

Reportedly, the couple was in their paddy field when the jumbo trampled the duo killing them on the spot.

Two Elephant Calves Die in Odisha

Carcass of an elephant clave was found near the south division of Jenabil range office in Similipal National Park on Monday.
The age of the calve was around one year; the reason of death is yet to be ascertained.

Similarly, another elephant calve died at Chandaka's Godibari in Bhubaneswar. The 3-year-old calve was undergoing treatment.

The treatment of the deceased calve was underway by a team of Nandankanan Zoo and OUAT, Bhubaneswar.

Nandankanan Zoological Park Welcomes 2 Giraffes

The Nandankanan Zoological Park in Bhubaneswar has welcomed two giraffes as part of an animal exchange programme. 

The zoo only had one female giraffe - Khushi - brought from the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park in Patna in 2012.
