In a bid to transform the lives of orphaned children in Odisha, the Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) will be called upon to adopt these children, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida said on Tuesday.
The Deputy CM highlighted that adopting even a small number of children could significantly alter their future prospects.
The ambitious programme aims to motivate political leaders to lead by example and create a promising future for orphaned children. Such collective efforts have the potential to serve as a model on the international landscape.

At present, approximately 8,000 foster children are being supported by Odisha Government under the Mission Vatsalya and PM CARES schemes, distributed across 225 homes.
These children have shown exceptional bravery, enthusiasm, and talent, according to the Deputy Chief Minister. The Government is committed to providing further support in the form of higher education and employment opportunities in the near future.
“If each legislator adopts at least five children in Odisha, more than 600 young lives could be transformed,” the Deputy CM stated to the media, emphasising that this initiative would face no resistance. A list is currently being prepared to facilitate the adoption process.
