A third-year MBBS student of the government-run Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital in Balasore died under mysterious circumstances after reportedly falling from a building near his hostel late Thursday night.
The deceased, Hitenshu Das, was a resident of Bhimpur village under Sadar block in Balasore district.
It is yet to be ascertained if he fell off the building or died by suicide by jumping off the building. He was reportedly found in a pool of blood late Thursday night and rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to the injuries during treatment.
As per reports, he was attending an online class, but left it mid-way. He also had spoken to his parents. While mystery continues to shroud his death, all eyes are now on the post-mortem report that can establish the exact cause behind his death.
When contacted, his classmates and the medical college authorities demanded a thorough probe into the unfortunate death.
The reaction of police or the deceased student’s family members could not be obtained immediately during the filing of this report.
