“At least eight to nine police personnel came in PCR and overpowered him. Later, the female constable continuously whipped him using a sharp-edged weapon. I requested them to at least slap him, but they continued to whip him, leaving scars on his body. He is now in immense pain. His whole body is paining. His palms and feet are full of injuries,” alleged the victim’s wife Rubina Nayak.

However, the police defended their actions, citing Jena's aggressive behaviour due to intoxication and alleging he also assaulted officers at the station. Despite these serious allegations, a formal statement from the police addressing claims of excessive force remains absent.

No comments could be obtained from the local police about the alleged third degree torture.
