Odisha launches Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Scheme

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched the Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Scheme at Adivasi Mela in Bhubaneswar. The scheme provides a Rs 5000 incentive to ST students enrolling in class IX & XI, aiming to reduce dropouts.

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday rolled out Shahid Madho Singh Haath Kharcha Scheme while inaugurating the Adivasi Mela at Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar on Sunday.

The scheme aims at reducing dropout rate among ST students. Under the scheme a one-time incentive of Rs 5000 will be provided to ST students getting enrolled in class IX & class XI. 

This incentive amount is envisioned to encourage greater enrolment and completion of Secondary and Higher Secondary education by ST students. 

Speaking on the occasion, CM Majhi said, “After BJP came to power, it planned to empower the tribal and include them in the mainstream of the society. The scheme aims at reducing dropout rates at the schools.”

About The Scheme:

  • This scheme has been made operational in the current academic year 2024-25 
  • This scheme is applicable for only Scheduled Tribe students whose annual family income is not more than Rs.2,50,000
  • ST students who have taken admission in class IX & class XI will receive a onetime incentive amount of Rs.5000
  • This scheme is applicable for ST students of only Govt. and Govt. Aided High School and Higher Secondary School within the state
  • The incentive amount will be provided directly in the bank-account of eligible student
  • Concerned Principal/ HM of the Higher Secondary School/ High School will recommend and sanction the application of eligible students directly to Department through Odisha State Scholarship Portal.
