In a landmark day towards strengthening education, innovation and research capacities in Odisha in alignment with NEP 2020, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Odisha government and Centre for the successful implementation of Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA) on Saturday.
Odisha Chief Minister (CM) Mohan Majhi signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan during a special event organised at Krushi Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.
As per guidelines of the PM-USHA scheme, states/UTs are required to sign an MoU for onboarding the scheme for its implementation.
The PM-USHA, an ambitious project by Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to enable state universities to ramp up infrastructure and also aid their transformation into world-class multidisciplinary universities.
It aims to improve the quality and access to education in higher education institutions (HEIs). Besides, it focuses on improving the curriculum, teachers' training, infrastructure, accreditation and employability.
“Odisha is blessed with talented human capital. Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the centre and CM Shri Mohan Charan Majhi in Odisha are committed and working to make sure that Odisha’s youth are equipped and empowered with 21st century knowledge and skills,” Pradhan said during the MoU agreement.
“Odisha and its human capital will be a beacon of hope for the world in this knowledge-based century and the times ahead,” he added.
Similarly, Mohan Majhi said, “The implementation of PM-USHA will contribute significantly in enhancing quality standards, skill development and employment generation in the higher education sector in Odisha. The students of Odisha will be especially benefited by this and I am hopeful that in the 21st century it will be the Odia children who will lead the world.”
“Both central and state governments are giving special importance to the development of education sector in Odisha. Many groundbreaking initiatives are being taken under the direct supervision of PM Narendra Modi,” he added.
