In a bid to offer a seamless, convenient, and affordable travel experience to the public and revolutionize urban transport, the Odisha government is going to launch a new app like Ola and Uber. The new app named ‘Odisha Yatri’ app will enhance sustainable and inclusive urban mobility. This initiative aligns with the state’s broader vision of Viksit Odisha aimed at both empowering drivers and improving customer experiences across the state.
As per reports, Odisha Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra unveiled the logo of the app on Wednesday.
As per sources, the app will operate on a zero-commission model, guaranteeing direct payment to drivers and eliminating the need for middlemen, thereby increasing transparency and income for drivers. Customers, in turn, will benefit from affordable pricing and fair, transparent rates. The app will also ensure the security of the passengers.
Initially, the app will be operated in Bhubaneswar, Puri and Cuttack in the first phase and gradually it will be expanded to other cities in the State. More than 10,000 auto and taxi drivers have been connected with the app and its mega launching will be initiated soon.
“The app is also being promoted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It will be very much useful for the passengers and the drivers,” said Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mohapatra.
Moreover, the Minister also inaugurated an automatic ticket vending machine at the Baramunda bus terminal on Wednesday. Now, passengers can collect their bus tickets from the machine automatically by putting money in it.
The minister also flagged of 12 new buses for the passengers in two routes.
“The automatic ticket vending machine was launched for the first time in Odisha and it was inaugurated at six places in the State,” said Mohapatra.
