The Odisha government is set to constitute a dedicated ‘Odisha Vision Cell’ to monitor and accelerate the implementation of its long-term development plans under Vision-2036 and Vision-2047. The proposal was discussed during a high-level meeting held after the launch of the ‘Viksit Bharat, Viksit Odisha – Vision 2036 & 2047’ roadmap in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.
Aims & Objectives
The Odisha Vision Cell will conduct monthly reviews of progress across departments and align efforts towards achieving the set goals. It was also proposed to establish Vision Units at the district level, while a high-level committee, headed by the Chief Minister, would be formed at the state-level to oversee implementation.
During the meeting, NITI Aayog CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam interacted with secretaries of various departments and appreciated Odisha’s targeted ‘36 for 36’ initiative — a strategy aimed at holistic development across 30 districts and 6 core sectors.
He recommended the formation of high-powered committees at the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary levels for periodic reviews, coordination across departments, and faster execution of schemes under the Vision document.
The proposals are part of a broader push to align Odisha’s developmental trajectory with the national goal of a developed India by 2047, coinciding with 100 years of independence and the state’s own centenary in 2036.
