In a move to make people’s life hassle free by clearing confusion, the State Revenue and Disaster Management Department has simplified the Kisams of land recorded in the Record of Rights (RoR) or ‘Patta’ across Odisha.
The Revenue department has slashed the existing 7797 number of land Kisams to 22 for ease of understanding, easier fixation of rent transfer of and for Public purposes, including facilitating land acquisition and determination of compensation.
This move of the Mohan Majhi-led BJP government is also expected to help online payment of land revenue and mutation of land in the shortest possible time as compared to the erstwhile cumbersome procedures.
Why Odisha Govt Considered Rationalization of Kisam
- Large number of vernacular names presently existing in different parts of Odisha for the same Kisam of land in the RoR
- Land Revenue could be systematized
- Ease of understanding for smooth & efficient land Revenue Administration
- Ease of Fixation of Rent during Settlement & Consolidation Operation
- Ease of Doing Business in accordance with Policy of Government of India and Government of Odisha
- Easier transfer of land for public purpose
- Simplification of process and avoidance of delay during land acquisition and also fixation of compensation could be easier
- Benefits to farmers in case of crop loss, payment of Input Subsidy and Compensation among others
- Simplification of fixation/distribution of compensation during natural calamities
- Bench Mark Valuation parity could be simplified
