According to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) sources, previously, temporary employees were entitled to a one-time cessation benefit of Rs 1.5 lakh when their services were terminated. However, the Chief Minister Majhi has approved an increase in this amount to Rs 2.5 lakh, with a straight hike of Rs 1 lakh.

This is a piece of good news for the State’s temporary employees ahead of the Rath Yatra.

As per the Chief Minister's decision, temporary workers who are terminated from service will now receive Rs 2.5 lakh as a one-time cessation benefit. If a temporary employee moves to a regular position but has not completed five years of service, they will still be eligible for the Rs 2.5 lakh one-time amount.

Those temporary employees who have worked for more than five years in a regular post will receive the minimum cessation benefit of Rs 2.5 lakh upon retirement.

Additionally, this one-time cessation benefit amount will see a 10 percent increment every two years, as per the decision. This increase will not require approval from the Finance Department; each department will be able to increase the amount by themselves every two years, a press release issued by the CMO in this regard mentioned.
