The Odisha government dissolved the State Planning Board on Wednesday. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi approved the proposal for the dissolution of the planning body, an official release from the CM’s Office stated.
The State government is likely to constitute a new planning board soon. Now, speculation is rife about the possibilities of different candidates to be instated as the new Chairman of the Board and his deputy.
As per the provision, the State Planning Board will have a Chairman, a Deputy Chairman and 14 members.
The dissolution of the board came a month after the BJP came to power in the State. The development will pave the way for the formation of a new planning board soon.
As per sources, the leaders who have allegiance to the party and some others who have jumped to the saffron party from other parties may be instated in the revamped board.
Notably, State-level Planning Boards are constituted in line with the Planning Commission with a view to giving shape to the state plan and overseeing the implementation of plans and programmes of the government.
