The new BJP government in Odisha, led by Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, is committed to establishing medical colleges in every district headquarters. Speaking to the media, Mahaling highlighted plans for new institutions and recruitment of faculties. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also reiterated this commitment, aiming to improve medical education statewide.

The new BJP government in Odisha is committed to set up medical colleges in every district headquarters of the State, said Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Thursday.

Speaking to the media, Mahaling said, “Medical colleges will be set up at every district headquarters in Odisha. A detailed plan for this is being prepared. When Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power at the centre in 2014, he made an agenda that every district in the country will have a medical college.”

“11 medical colleges are functioning in Odisha offering MBBG UG courses. Two more medical colleges are in the pipeline in Talcher and Kandhamal. We have a double-engine government and we will definitely set up the medical colleges in all district headquarters.” Mahaling added.

“BJP government in Odisha completed 100 days today. We have already prepared the roadmap for enhanced medical education. Recruitment of faculties will be made soon,” the Minister added.

Earlier on Wednesday, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi also said that the government aims to open medical colleges in each of the 30 districts and fill up vacant posts of doctors on a priority basis.
