Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi conducted an aerial survey of flood-hit regions in Odisha on Wednesday and reviewed the prevailing situation across the affected districts. Following the inspection, the Chief Minister stated that the overall flood scenario remains under control.

According to the Chief Minister's assessment, eight blocks in three districts, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur, have been severely affected due to the recent flooding.

In Balasore district, four blocks are reported to be impacted, while in Bhadrak, the Dhamnagar and Bhandaripokhari blocks have borne the brunt of the floodwaters. In Jajpur district, Jajpur and Dasarathpur blocks have been affected.

The water levels in major rivers such as Subarnarekha and Jalaka are reportedly receding, offering some relief to the administration and residents.

Relief and Rehabilitation Measures Underway

•    So far, 5,879 people have been evacuated from vulnerable areas.
•    Around 81 villages and 30,000 residents have been affected by the flood.
•    The government has set up relief centers where 10,000 people are being provided with two cooked meals daily.
•    Compensation will be extended to those whose homes have been damaged.
•    The state government is laying special emphasis on achieving zero casualties, the Chief Minister affirmed.

“Four blocks of Balasore - Basta, Baliapal, Bhograi, and Jaleswar; two blocks of Bhadrak – Dhamnagar & Bhandaripokhari; two blocks of Jajpur – Jajpur & Dasrathpur have been affected. There are some other districts that suffered losses due to the flood,” the CM told media persons.

“At least 81 villages of these three districts have been affected by the flood, disrupting the lives of around 30K villagers. People have been evacuated, and the situation is normal now, and there was nothing to panic as the water level in the rivers was receding,” the CM added.

The administration continues to monitor the situation closely, and all efforts are underway to ensure swift relief and rehabilitation in the flood-affected zones.
