Odisha engineer turns his home into mini zoo with his love for flora and fauna
In a world where forging human connections is increasingly difficult, some individuals find solace in nature's creations. One such person is Rashmi Ranjan Senapati, an engineer from Gop village in Odisha's Kendrapara district, who has transformed his home into a captivating mini zoo which is garnering admiration from locals and visitors alike.
The innovative engineer with a B.Tech graduate has opened his home to more than 30 species of exotic birds. Among his treasured collection are rare species such as Love Birds, Lorikeets, Blue Monk Parrots, and Cockatiels.
The vibrant colours and melodious sounds bring a new charm to his home, with Rashmi receiving unwavering support from his wife as he dedicates his time and resources to this venture.
Rashmi's passion for wildlife does not stop at birds. He has also set up an aquarium housing vivid fish and lush seaweed. Furthermore, his collection of foreign breed dogs is a major attraction in his house. This extensive project requires considerable financial investment, which Rashmi manages alongside his job in a private firm after pursuing engineering.
Beyond the rich avian life, Rashmi's garden boasts an impressive collection of 150 different plant species, including exotic varieties like Pansalvia and Snake Dragon, further enhancing the natural beauty of his home. Devoting his life's savings to his passion, Rashmi invests both time and money in maintaining this unique harmony of flora and fauna.
“I’m at inner peace when I see them and spend time with them. There is no better joy than loving my pets. All my worries disappear as soon as I see them,” said an elated Rashmi.
Rashmi’s wife Kalyani Senapati, who provides unwavering support to his venture, said, “At first, we brought home a couple of birds. He was so pleased with the chirping of the birds, that he decided to turn our home into a mini zoo. Every morning, just after waking up, he goes to spend time with them. I have also fallen in love with the birds and the animals.”
